Mindfulness Coaching



Mindfulness is a way of engaging with your life with a moment-by-moment awareness of your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations as well as your surrounding environment. What this establishes is the ability to be aware of and observe what you are experiencing in the present moment, rather than getting caught up in your mind about issues from the past or worries about the future.


Central to mindfulness is the ability to observe what is happening without judgement or without wishing to change anything.


Although mindfulness as a practice is known to have evolved from numerous sacred traditions (such a Buddhism and Sufism), it was popularised in the late 70’s by Jon Kabat-Zinn from the University of Massachusetts where he launched a Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program at the university’s medical school. Since then, its mental, emotional and physical benefits have been demonstrated through thousands of studies and due to its efficacy, mindfulness is growing exponentially as a practice adopted by many corporate organisations across the world today.


Mindfulness is powerful in its ability to help you train yourself to focus in a way that calms your mind and unhooks you from challenging thoughts, emotions and behaviours that undermine your life satisfaction and sense of wellbeing. By learning to be present to and detached from what you are experiencing in any given moment, you will develop the ability to choose how you wish to respond to life rather than being reactive and feeling at the mercy of unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behaviours.


Why mindfulness coaching is helpful:


Whilst mindfulness is easy to understand as a concept and sounds simple to apply, it can actually be very difficult to practice due to the fact that people spend most of their lives on autopilot, focusing on anything but the present moment.


Fostering mindfulness is like building a muscle and is established with regular, daily practice.
